Voodoo Kitty and pieces for the nieces

I'm finally back in the swing after a couple of months of getting caught up with work, the fibromyalgia, and a serious lack of time in the studio. Living with fibromyalgia and regulating the medications has been a challenge. (There will be pieces coming from this, no doubt!) I want to thank those who are supporting me in all of my efforts. Much love to you. :) Below you will see the piece "VooDoo Kitty". Yesterday I sewed the sleeve on and Donovan put it in place. It started when I saw some VooDoo imagery a couple of months ago and was dealing with some frustration living with my black cat, Meridith aka Tadpole. She's a bit of a character and this piece was born out of that whimsy. The background is machine stitched with the yarn ball and straggling yarn being hand stitched as well as much of the stitching on the cat. Later I may add on images of some dead mice, but it's done for now.

I'm really happy with how this has turned out.
The following two wall hangings are gifts to my wonderful nieces, Sam and Jess, who are some pretty great softball players. They both play on traveling teams and are VERY involved. Their new room will be in lime green and hot pink, as you can see. :)

I hope they like the gifts!

Today I'm working on binding some unfinished pieces and will be organizing the studio - and doing some sketchbook work too! It's good to be back and peace to you all!

  1. Absolutely love the Voodoo Kitty! Is that a zipper you used as the cat's mouth?? If not, cool idea, file that for later.....

    Great work, as always.
